TELECOLLABORATION PROJECTS

TELECOLLABORATION PROJECTS (Indonesia, Cambodia, and Thailand)

Group members: Furqan, Hoksran, Jeab

Greetings from
3 Asian Countries

Objectives: To enhance participants’ speaking skills through understanding how to greet others in three languages.

Participants: Third-year College students

The technology use: Google Hangouts, plus Google Docs and Blogs

The reason why we use hangouts because because it very much helps in understanding other ways of greetings as it provides direct, live audio and visual tools, as well as the comment box which make the communication easy to follow.

1.    Introduction to the project
2.
-TT introduces the project to SS by writing and by showing word cards and pictures, as well as related videos of body languages in Indonesia and SS try to guess.

-TT tell SS that they are going to share their greetings and body language online with other 2 Asian countries: the 1st one starts with "C"(Cambodia) and the the 2nd one starts with "T" (Thailand) through "Google Hangouts"

-SS are divided into a group of 6 and scheduled the online sharing time via "Google Hangouts".

-TT assigns SS to do a small research on the greetings and body languages in their regions, families, and neighborhood from the websites, books, and interviews. They have to hand in TT a small report, pictures of body languages, and word cards of greetings.

2. Project time
-The 1 st online group from Indonesia with other 6 SS from Cambodia and Thailand share their information by giving an oral presentation with pictures and word cards.
-After each country finishes their presentation, questions and answers from each country are started.

3. Reflection time
-TT assigns SS to write what they have learned about the greetings and body languages via "Google Docs".
-When every group has the chance to share their information online, each group from each country will create an online poster and publish via TT's blog.

The following is the expected picture of using hangouts for collaborative work:

A. Telecollaboration with Cambodian Teacher Trainer: Mr. Hoksrun
